Avanti Orchestra Auditions

The Friday Morning Music Club’s Avanti Orchestra is a community orchestra comprising approximately 65 musicians conducted by Chi-Yuan Lin. The orchestra is based in Washington, DC. Performance venues have included the Church of the Epiphany, Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center and Parilla Performing Arts Center, Schlesinger Concert Hall, and Kennedy Center Terrace Theater.

Requirements

• Until further notice, all auditions are by virtual submission (see below). Please write to Meredith Spisak at avantiauditions@fmmc.org and include a brief bio of music experience. Instructions will be emailed upon request.
• Candidates should prepare a selection of their choice, plus two orchestral excerpts (see links below).
• Performers who have achieved FMMC Solo or Chamber Performance Membership through audition may play in the orchestra at the invitation of the orchestra committee and are not required to audition.

String instruments excerpts are linked below. Other instrumentalists should write to avantiauditions@fmmc.org to request instructions.

Virtual Submission

Virtual submissions should be in video (not audio) format via YouTube. Video auditions may be submitted at any time during the year. FMMC endeavors to provide a decision within one month of submission.

FMMC has the right to refuse submission materials if they are not submitted correctly and following these guidelines.
