The Friday Morning Music Club and its members have been making music here in Washington DC since 1886 (yes, 1886!). We are determined not to let the pandemic prevent our festivities. After all, FMMC has survived 24 presidents, 12 constitutional amendments, 2 world wars, and now 5 pandemics.
Friday Morning Music Club: 135 Years is a celebratory video project honoring the organization’s 135th anniversary. Part performance and part documentary, this cinematic celebration showcases performances by internationally recognized artists, archival material of FMMC’s colorful history and interviews with some of its treasured members. Performing artists will include recent winners of the Club-sponsored Washington International Competition and Johansen International Competition, as well as performances by FMMC members, the Avanti Orchestra and the Arioso Chorale.
To watch, simply tune in right here, where you can also find performer bios, details about the project, and a full concert program. “FMMC: 135 Years” will be available indefinitely after its premiere on February 27th to memorialize this significant moment in FMMC’s history. The celebration is free and open to all, no tickets required.
If you would like to support this project and FMMC’s next 135 years, any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
