The triennial Johansen International Competition for Young String Players (JIC) sponsored by our FMMC Foundation took place last week! Shown are most of the winners along with judges, accompanists, and organizers!
Finalists/prize winners left to right: Mio Imai (violin, judges’ commendation), Matthew Ho (cello, judges’ commendation), Elizabeth (Poppy) Song (violin, 3rd prize), Eiline Tai (cello, 2nd prize and best performance of commissioned work), Xunyu Zhou (viola, 2nd prize), Jiwoo Son (violin, 2nd prize), Joshua Kováč (cello, 1st prize), Junyan Du (viola, 1st prize). Not shown: Valery Breshears (violin, 1st prize), Starla Breshears (cello, 3rd prize), Samuel Tatsuki (viola, 3rd prize).
