MEMBER NEWS PUBLISHED ON THIS WEB SITE IN DECEMBER 2004:

  • A rather "memorable" incident occurred when Victoria Bragin played the opening concert for the Sun City Performance Series at the United Methodist Church in Sun City, FL in October 2004. When she tested the lighing she requested that a particular spotlight be turned off as it was causing some distracting shadows on the keyboard and Vicki felt there was enough light -- it was an afternoon performance. The Music Director denied the request, feeling that Vicki could be seen best with that spotlight on. Vicki opened with a Beethoven Sonata and a few seconds into the piece, THE spotlight exploded! Vicki proceeded without missing a beat, but she did not realize how much "power" she had.

  • Musical Arts International presented its East Meets West Ensemble on December 4, 1004 at 8 pm at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, Md. The program included a Brahms Trio, Poulence Clarinet Sonata, Schubert Cello Sonata, and the world premiere of East Meets West 2004 by Dr. Lawrence Moss. The Ensemble consists of FMMC pianist Li-Ly Chang, cellist Evelyn Elsing, clarinetist Marguerite Baker, and Chinese musical performers Zhong Hu and James Hu.
