  • Amanda Balestrieri announces the following concerts and invites all FMMC friends to attend:
     
    • Sunday, May 4, afternoon, chamber recital with ArcoVoce at St. Luke's Catholic Church in McLean, Virginia, program to include Handel's solo cantata Lucrezia, more info. ArcoVoce at (301) 588-0064.
       
    • Saturday, May 17, 2003, 8 pm, St. John's Episcopal Church, Norwood Parish, 6701 Wisconsin Avenue, Chevy Chase, Maryland.   • Robert (Bob) Rosen will appear as soloist in Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" with the Montgomery College Community Band/Wind Ensemble, Paul Noble, Conductor, on Thursday, May 8 at 8pm in the Parilla Performing Arts Center on the Rockville campus of the College. The program will also include Elgar's Enigma Variations. The program is free and open to the public
     
  • "Claude Debussy and a Fantasy of the Senses" led by FMMC concert pianist, music educator, and author Cecilia Dunoyer, will be held at Smithsonian Associates on Saturday, May 17, 2003 from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. The program will highlight Paris at the turn of the century and focus on Claude Debussy (1862-1918), the man, his influences, and his music.
     
    The following FMMC members will perform: Cecilia Dunoyer, Billie Anderton, Nayiri Poochikian, Marsha Rucher, Frederick Shoup and Jan Timbers. For more information or to order tickets at a special FMMC rate (Senior members $76), please call (202) 357-3030 and refer to Code 1M1-582.
     
  • Announcement from Bonnie Kellert

    Here are the details of my upcoming solo recital at the Phillips Collection on Sunday, May 18th, 2003. Hope you can come! The concert begins at 5 p.m. (It is a good idea to come early for the best seating opportunities. The art gallery is under some construction, but still offers some of the best impressionistic and modern paintings in town.) If you want to be outside, it's always fun to stroll along Embassy row or explore the shops on Connecticut Avenue.

    Admission to the Phillips: A small donation is requested at the door.

    Location: 21st and Massachusetts Ave, N.W. just east of Dupont Circle. It is also one short block east of Florida Ave, where the Cosmos Club is located. Parking is limited and can be difficult in this area of town.

  • Deborah Brown gave a lecture on "Teaching Chamber Music" March 29 at the Eastman School of Music and gave a chamber music masterclass at the Allendale-Columbia High School on April 2. She performed a chamber music recital as part of the "Eastman at Washington Square" recital series on March 13. On March 11, she performed a chamber recital in Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music with works by Gaubert, Ibert, Smetana, and Mendelssohn.
     
  • Joselyn Makowski and Stephanie Stoyanoff presented four hand works for the National Society of Arts and Letters on April 2. The program included works by Bach, Wagner, and Liszt.
