PAST PERFORMANCES AND OTHER NEWS:

  • Several members of the FMMC attended The Great Romantics Festival in Hamilton, Ontario, on October 10-12. Harold Ash, Mary Brantley, Liz Santucci, Jo Makowski, and Bill Ellis were among those who enjoyed a memorable performance by Ann Schein and her husband, Earl Carlyss, in works for violin and piano by Respighi, Saint-Saens, and Kreisler. Ann also filled in at the last minute for an ailing performer and enthralled the large audience with her interpretation of Beethovenís Sonata Op. 109 and her touching performance of a sonata by Chopin. On the last day, Ann and Thomas Mastroianni took part in a Piano Gala featuring Rhapsodies by Franz Liszt. Tom performed Rhapsody No.3, in B flat major, while Annís choice was the Rhapsody No.15 in A minor.
